Description
If you get off the train and are looking for a cheap room to collapse into, there's a small collection of guest houses in the neighbourhood behind the Sao Mai Hotel. The location is hardly central, and pretty much any of them will do for the night. We singled out this place, down an alley, because it seemed to offer peace and quiet, but if you look at our other listings, you'll see that you can find a better room for less money if you venture further into town.

Ben Ngu Street is home to the 'market of strolling vendors,' and the whole area constitutes a very pleasant place to stay. Situated off the market road, we found this motel-style guest house and wish we'd stayed here on our visit. Clean rooms with a good atmosphere is a quiet, leafy courtyard with... more
Dai Nam Hotel
28 Nguyen Son, Thanh Hoa
Ample singage along Quang Trung makes this place easy to seek out, on a side street to the east. We found clean rooms with soft beds and fluffy bedding, well-furnished with armoires, vanities, green tile floors, and dark wood furniture (of the big and hard Vietnamese variety). There are nice tile... more
