Description
The Dien Bien Phu Hotel is a big, white 32 room outfit that can't be missed as you cruise the main strip. The staff here are very friendly and the management helpful with any enquiry that you need to make. The rooms are a good size and well kept up -- the two-room suites are a particularly good value for the price, featuring desks, light-wood furnishings, comfy beds with good bedding, clean and sleek bathrooms with tubs, and big TVs, but sadly, no cable. With six massage rooms you shouldn't need to look far for a rub down if you so wish. There is also a 200 seat restaurant for yourself and an intimate group of 199 friends to indulge your appetite.

There's a whole class of hotels in Vietnam, built before Doi Moi, that reflect a very kitschy, uniquely Vietnamese sensibility, and this place is a prime example of the genre. The fundamentals of the style are concrete renderings of random figures like elephants and cave men, the more of them the... more

This giant, pink-salmon-coloured hotel along 7-5 Road, set well off the road behind a huge reflecting pond, is exactly the kind of place we'd expect to be awful, but it's not so bad. Comfortable, competitively priced rooms are to be found with big windows, private balconies (shame about the... more
