Description
In much the same style as the original Lan Anh Hotel in Muong Lay, this place is equally charming, featuring a lot of the local multicoloured slate, some stilt-house-style lodging, a wide selection of rooms, and a very bored and complacent staff. You could basically read our review of the Lan Anh I and apply it to it's sister location. The cheaper rooms are small, but comfortable, with bendy wooden floors covered in red carpets, and slatted wooden walls that don't allow for much privacy and -- oh, just go read the other review. The big difference is that the surrounds in Phong To are not nearly as charming as Muong Lay, but if you are availing yourself of a one-way rental between the two Lan Anh's, you might wind up here. Bicycles are rented for 100,000 VND per day, motorbikes for US$12 a day, and can be dropped off at the Lan Anh 1 in Muong Lay.

Total rooms: 45

Dbl fan private b'room
10 USD (low season) 10 USD (high season)
$15 for a twin, $20 for a deluxe room

They broke ground in 2007 on this brand new hotel which is making a go of it in the low-demand, Phong To accommodation scene. They were still putting in the macadam for the parking lot on our visit, but it'll be open for business by the time you read this. The rooms in the main building are nothing... more
