Description
They broke ground in 2007 on this brand new hotel which is making a go of it in the low-demand, Phong To accommodation scene. They were still putting in the macadam for the parking lot on our visit, but it'll be open for business by the time you read this. The rooms in the main building are nothing special -- spacious, with cheap furnishings, and everything is brand new, so the bathrooms are guaranteed to be clean for the time being. The woman behind the venture was very friendly on our arrival and very eager for people to start coming and filling her place up. She wants them in the new rooms, of course, but we reluctantly got her to show us the very cheap, boarding house rooms in a separate, older, building along the side. Just a bed or two in a concrete room with a shared bathroom. So, this is the place to head to save money, and get a much friendlier reception than you will at the Lan Anh.

The Lan Anh Hotel II
Main Road, Phong To
In much the same style as the original Lan Anh Hotel in Muong Lay, this place is equally charming, featuring a lot of the local multicoloured slate, some stilt-house-style lodging, a wide selection of rooms, and a very bored and complacent staff. You could basically read our review of the Lan Anh I... more
