Description
The ramparts of this modern take on a castle stand in view of the Delta Restaurant down a sidestreet leading away from the main drag through Sapa. They have a reasonable selection of unreasonably-priced rooms in their new wing and more options in the old wing. We imagine most people staying here are getting a good deal on a package tour and paying much less than the walk-in rates. The Chau Long has a good bar and restaurant serving mid-range western and Vietnamese entrees. The hotel's most unique feature is a heated swimming pool. It's small, in a courtyard on a lower floor, completely closed in with windows, and only really tempting during winter. In summer, you'd feel like a fish in a bowl. The sauna features spray-painted mermaids on the walls. Everything is very clean, modern and comfortable. The location is good, so the views are fantastic and there is an elevator up to the rooms.

This is the marquee player of Sapa's hotels, a four-star place with a well-trained staff that does a bustling trade in high-end tour groups.
