Description
The Hong Hoa Hotel faces onto both De Tham and mini-hotel alley and has clean and spacious rooms. Guests get two hours of free internet access per day at the hotel's ground floor internet cafe. The rooms are well-kept, though only one has an open-air veranda. All have a writing desk and cupboard along with a good firm bed, but the small rooms feel a bit cramped with the extra furniture. All have TV and air-con though the cheapest do not have a fridge. Staff are chatty and friendly. Compared to the other mini-hotels, this is a bit pricey, but the free internet is a bonus. The De Tham side of the hotel sits atop the family-owned small supermarket, which has a reasonable range of well-priced wine for sale.

Ngoc Dang Hotel
254 De Tham St, District 1, Saigon
The foyer at the Ngoc Dang doubles as a CD shop, but the real attraction are the large garden terraces attached to each of the rooms overlooking De Tham Street. The first-floor room is particularly pleasing with a bright and airy atmosphere. The upper floors are not quite as pretty but all the... more
Happy Inn
Mini-hotel alley, 40/13 Bui Vien St, District 1
Happy Inn has two locations on Bui Vien. This one, on mini-hotel alley, has 10 rooms. The guesthouse lobby actually looks like a real hotel, suggesting you may have successfully avoided a 'backpacker category' joint -- and you have. The rooms have air-con, cable TV and fridge, and the furnishings... more
Phoenix 74 Hotel
74 Bui Vien St, District 1, Saigon
The very good value Phoenix 74 is a stand out in the row of mini-hotels on Bui Vien St, due in no small part to its having an elevator. Rooms are very, very clean and have a few extra sticks of furniture thrown in, making this quite good value when compared to its neighbours. The staff are also... more
Kim Hotel
Mini-hotel alley, 40/18 Bui Vien St, District 1
Kim Hotel is one of the newest on this alley, but that isn't saying much seeing how old some of the others are. It's run by friendly Mrs Kim who is more than happy to help with queries. Small rooms facing the back of the hotel are cheaper -- front facing rooms are lighter, bigger and have a balcony... more
Orient Hotel
274-276 De Tham St, District 1, Saigon
This large hotel, situated at the northern end of De Tham Street, has very Chinese-style furnished rooms with ornate heavy wooden doors and fittings throughout. Very popular with tour groups and local tourists, the rooms are comfortable and well-maintained, but the newer mini-hotels represent... more
Quyen Thanh
212 De Tham St, District 1
Quyen Thanh is housed above a handicrafts souvenir shop run by the hotel owners. All rooms face onto the street and open onto balconies that run around the length of the building -- from where you can observe the busy junction of Bui Vien St and De Tham St. This unmistakable building is adorned... more
Duna Hotel
167 Pham Ngu Lao St, District 1, Saigon
Very popular with tour groups and Australian backpackers who like to have inane conversations at the top of their voices in the foyer, the Duna Hotel has somewhat frumpy rooms with fluorescent blankets and aged pine chipboard furniture. The cheapest rooms have mismatched furniture and are quite... more
211
211-213 Pham Ngu Lao St, District 1
The imaginatively named 211 shares a lobby with the Mai Linh tourist company -- handy for travel and tour arrangements. Staff here are warm and welcoming, and prices mid-range. Rooms are supplied with good beds and furniture, and the bathrooms are modern and western style, containing a shower... more
Le Trung Hotel
62 Bui Vien St, District 1, Saigon
The Le Trung hotel thankfully has a winch set-up to lift your bags to the higher floors -- what a crying shame they don't have a similar set-up for the guests, as it is a long climb to the higher floors! Rooms are plain affairs, all with air-con, TV and hot water bathrooms, though the street side... more
