Description
Set towards the northern end of mini-hotel alley, the large verandas at this family-run mini-hotel are unfortunately taken up by two large and clunky air-con units, so don't plan on lounging around outside. The streetside rooms are very large, the mid-priced ones are more modest and the cheapies are very small and windowless. Rooms are clean and fitted out with air-con, hot water bathrooms and TV. Discounts are easy to get if business is slow.

Dbl A/C private b'room
18 USD (low season) 18 USD (high season)

Use the aircon units as seats -
By marianwarren ( total comments: 13  More information please ) Stayed here 12/2006
Yes it is a pity that the units are there but it's still a great place to sit and watch from. Good size room, a bathroom with a bath. Staff helpful and friendly. We paid $17 for 3. Laneway is very quiet considering how much activity occurs at either end. I'd stay there again.

Phan Lan Guesthouse
70 Bui Vien St, District 1, Saigon
As with most of the mini-hotels on Bui Vien, the Phan Lan has reasonable-sized rooms that are clean and well-furnished -- the streetside rooms cop a lot of noise, the back rooms are quieter. The Phan Lan distinguished itself with its super-soft mattresses. We found the staff a little offhand but... more

Ngoc Dang Hotel
254 De Tham St, District 1, Saigon
The real attraction at the Ngoc Dang Hotel is the large garden terrace attached to each of the rooms overlooking De Tham. While the furnishings throughout the hotel are no great shakes, what swings the deal are the verandas. The first-floor room is particularly pleasing with a bright and airy... more

Hoang Linh Hotel
256 De Tham St, District 1, Saigon
Owner Mr Hoang has a seemingly endless supply of glowing recommendation books, and with his collection of 16 spotless rooms, it is easy to see why. The rooms are no-frills, with Ikea-style furnishings and super-soft mattresses, but they are very clean and well-looked after, and include TV, fridge... more

Happy Inn
Mini-Hotel Alley, 40/13 Bui Vien St, District 1
Happy Inn has two locations on Bui Vien. This one, on Mini-Hotel Alley, has 10 rooms. The guesthouse lobby actually looks like a real hotel, suggesting you may have successfully avoided a 'backpacker category' joint -- and you have. The rooms have air-con, cable TV and fridge, and the furnishings... more

Phoenix 74 Hotel
74 Bui Vien St, District 1, Saigon
The very good value Phoenix 74 is a stand out in the row of mini-hotels on Bui Vien St, due in no small part to its having an elevator. Rooms are clean and have a few extra sticks of furniture thrown in, making this quite good value when compared to its threadbare neighbours. The staff are also... more

Hong Hoa Hotel
250 De Tham St, District 1, Saigon
The Hong Hoa Hotel faces onto both De Tham and mini-hotel alley and has clean and spacious rooms. The rooms are well-kept, though just the one has an open-air veranda. All have a writing desk and cupboard along with a good firm bed, but the small rooms feel a bit cramped with the extra,... more

Huong Mini Hotel
Mini-hotel alley, 40/19 Bui Vien St, District 1, Saigon
If you're travelling in a group, the massive streetside rooms at Huong Mini Hotel could swing the deal as the standards easily sleep four, if not eight to a dozen in a squeeze. Spacious verandas which have not been totally given over to the air-con units are an added bonus, so there is ample space... more

Kim Hotel
Mini-Hotel Alley, 40/18 Bui Vien St, District 1
Kim Hotel is one of the newest on Mini-Hotel Alley, but that isn't saying much seeing how old some of the others are. It's run by friendly Mrs Kim who is more than happy to help with queries. Small rooms facing the back of the hotel are cheaper -- front facing rooms are lighter, bigger and have a... more

Thai Nhi Mini Hotel
Mini-hotel alley, 40/4 Bui Vien St, District 1, Saigon
The walls are hardly scuffed at this smart and clean mini-hotel, which features baby blue and white trim throughout. The Thai Nhi has well-kitted out bathrooms complete with bathtub, but the balcony is minuscule -- barely large enough for a chair. A huge flatscreen adorns the lobby which doubles as... more

Quyen Thanh
212 De Tham St, District 1
Quyen Thanh is housed above a handicrafts souvenir shop run by the hotel owners. All rooms face onto the street and open onto balconies that run around the length of the building -- from where you can observe the busy junction of Bui Vien and De Tham. This unmistakable building is adorned with red... more

Duna Hotel
167 Pham Ngu Lao St, District 1, Saigon
The Duna Hotel has frumpy rooms with fluorescent blankets and aged pine chipboard furniture. The cheapest rooms have mismatched furniture and are quite poor value. The bathrooms throughout are excellent -- very clean and well-maintained. However, the whole place seems to lack the motivation to... more

Hai Ha Hotel
76-78 Bui Vien St, District 1, Saigon
Hai Ha Hotel, like its neighbours, has standard issue, featureless, rooms with Ikea-style furniture that are more than adequate but nothing that will leave you shedding a tear when the time comes to leave. The owners have crimped a little on the bathrooms, which are more basic than the other places... more

Le Trung Hotel
62 Bui Vien St, District 1, Saigon
The Le Trung hotel thankfully has a winch set-up to lift your bags to the higher floors -- what a crying shame they don't have a similar set-up for the guests, as it is a long climb to the higher floors! Rooms are plain affairs, all with air-con, TV and hot water bathrooms, though the street side... more
