The rooms at Phi Long are backpacker standard and the hotel itself is in need of a paint job. The bathrooms are just okay, but they do include bathtubs -- one single has a huge corner bath. You pay more for a room with a balcony. The draw here is for internet addicts and laptop carriers -- downstairs free internet is provided (on six terminals), and the guesthouse also has WiFi throughout. All rooms have air-con, cable TV, a fridge and a few sticks of basic furniture.

I stayed at Phi Long and was surprised in a positive way. Inspite of the fact that my room had no window - which of course made it possibly to sleep in - the room was clean and big. The bathtub was huge, and it was the only place I've stayed so far that the room was cleaned everyday. Even more important: The staff had an understanding for the western females need for more than one roll of toiletpaper in 3 days!!
