Quyen Thanh is housed above a handicrafts souvenir shop run by the hotel owners. All rooms face onto the street and open onto balconies that run around the length of the building -- from where you can observe the busy junction of Bui Vien and De Tham. This unmistakable building is adorned with red lanterns and must be the most interesting location in the area. Due to its 'corner' status, some rooms are shaped like a slice of pie -- others are a regular quadrilateral. Also due to the corner location, the Quyen Thanh's rooms get a lot of street noise -- earplugs are essential for light sleepers. Although slightly old and musty, something about these rooms says 'stately', backed up by fantastic bathtubs that are not too long but deep enough for a delicious soak.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. For mid-range hotels and up, always shop around online for a competitive rate. Click here to find out more about what makes Travelfish different with regards our accommodation reviews.

My stay here was perfect. The emailed reservation was honoured, the receptionist ''Van'' was friendly, and the room was great. At $15 this place was a great start to a great trip.
