Bi Saigon is an interesting guest house with a popular and comprehensive restaurant on the ground floor. The real attraction here comes in the form of some surprising and almost novelty rooms. For the price of a normal city double, staying in an eccentric and roomy 'suite' room is a viable option. We saw one deluxe suite -- it had a lobby area with a display case full of ornaments and a communal seating area. The bathroom was housed inside a mini room in the style of a Chinese villa, with it's roof tiles plainly visible throughout the room. Deeper still led to the sleeping area, where yet more seating, an office area, a fridge and TV and a mini balcony await – all this available for just $45. Bi's standard rooms are a decent size and have character, so also a good option for the price.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. Small but cosy place - 19th January, 2009
I stayed in the Executive suite 2 for 5 nights from 29th 2008 to 3rd 2009. I paid USD47 a night for the room, which was rather reasonable for its service and quality. Breakfast is included and the restaurant at the hotel serves good Vietnamese food. The staff were warm and friendly, and some of the guys helped me with my air-con when it failed to work during one of the evenings.
I was initially surprised at the size of the room, it's much smaller than the photos on the website depicts. However, the room turned out to be rather cosy. There is a nice little balcony with potted plants, suntanning beds, cushions to sit on, and a table. As the hotel does not face the main street, having a take-away meal on the balcony is something worth experiencing.
My only grouse was the size of the toilet. But I was able to overlook that, with the cable TV supplying me with more channels than I could handle. My room was located on the 4th floor and there were no lifts. Great exercise to lose all the pounds I gained from the fantastic food in the city.
The funny thing about Saigon is that the buildings are taxed according to their width, so buildings tend to have a lot of depth and height, but are usually very narrow. Staying in Bi Saigon would give you a taste of its unique buildings.
