Ordinary may lay claim to Saigon's first boutique hotel. It has an outstanding location slap bang in Saigon's poshest area, under a minutes walk to Dong Khoi's art galleries and fashion shops. The first floor houses not only a restaurant and a coffee bar but also a fashion shop by the designer Le Phuong Thao. Upstairs, the building takes on an Alice in Wonderland kind of appeal, with various landings and surprise lobbies providing ample reading or nap space additional to the room itself. Each room is decorated differently in a boutique style with powerful colors, old wooden floors and real brickwork, varying in size, natural light, and quality. It is worth touring rooms if they are available to make a choice. Ordinary may not be the lap of luxury but for escaping the mundaneness of Saigon's mini hotels and for something a little different, it is an excellent choice. Breakfast is included in the room price.

good deal, nice staff - 12th December, 2009
The Ordinary was great. We stayed for 3 nights in March 2009. Located in a posh neighborhood but you can walk to more interesting neighborhoods, the river, Presidential Palace. Rooms are funky, lots of color also clean, bathrooms nice. The staff was very nice and helpful. It's quiet for a big noisy city and very affordable since HCMC is expensive. Good breakfast too. The only downside was there are many steps/floors in the hotel without an elevator but I think this is common...they build up!

under renovation on 24 may 2009 - 23rd May, 2009
Hi I wanted to ''walk in'' the ordinary hotel today 24th may 2009 for a room. But I was a bit disapointed coz the hotel was under renovation. Full of painters, plasterers and what so ever workers everywhere. The doors were open so I can tell from what I saws that they just started the renovation.I found nobody in charge able to explain me when it would be finished. So check it out. I am a bit surprised as the last visit to this hotel on this website says 9th may. Anyway now you know ! : ) But although under enovation it still looked good !
