Also known as Binh An, this spotless hostel is located right on Bui Vien in the heart of the backpacker district.

Ten-person, air-con dorm rooms are available in male, female or mixed, and these offer white bunks set close together, lockers and large windows. A flash private room gets you plenty of space and a red and white polka dot theme to go with a big comfy bed, en suite bathroom, TV and fridge. Both dorms and privates are spotless and come with hardwood floors -- a rarity in Saigon.

Unlike many budget guesthouses and hostels around here, this one is easy to find even after more than a few drinks, but it's also probably not the best choice if you want to hit the sack early.

Like most of the other budget digs, however, Koniko does not have an elevator, and even if staying on the lower floors you'll still have to huff it up to the roof for the complimentary breakfast.

There's not a whole lot happening in terms of common lounge space apart from two computers in the lobby, but staff were friendly enough on our visit.
