Saigon Mini 5
Clean and affordable
What we say:
Set in a central location off Bui Vien, Mini 5 is a solid choice for those after more comfort than the usual cramped digs of Pham Ngu Lao.
Rooms come in a few different sizes, all of which get you a TV, air-con, fridge, hot water bathroom and free WiFi. The room design is minimalist -- white walls with nothing more than a random print, tile floors, tiny desks and soft lighting -- but rooms are well kept and linens fresh.
The cheapest standard rooms are located on the lower floors and are quite small with only a tiny window. The superior with larger windows and more space offers better value, and the deluxe bag you loads of space and a decent view from upper floors that are well away from the bustle of the relatively busy street down below. We have however heard reports that walls are thin and the sound of TVs can carry from one room to the next.
Unlike many hotels in this area, Mini 5 boasts a lift to take you up to the higher floors, including the top floor where the complimentary breakfast is served. Staff are friendly and a couple of communal computers are also available behind the reception area. Book ahead as Mini 5 is a fairly popular spot.
