Hong Di Bungalows
Excellent backpacker value

What we say:
One of the more popular backpacker options in Mui Ne, Hong Di has a bunch of beachfront huts along with rooms in a longhouse setup back off the beach, which are excellent value for Mui Ne. Very friendly staff maintain spotless rooms -- these places really are clean. The garden setting is lush and very well-shaded and there is a small common area great for meeting others by the beach, between the beachfront huts. Highly recommended as a budget option.

Avoid !!! there is better accmodation elsewhere
Avoid this place at all cost. I am well traveled form London and I have never seen a Bed and breakfast so filthy and lacking in basic amenities and service. Firstly the room should be going for 14usd a night instead of the 25usd they attempted to charge me. The only good thing about this place is that is next to the beach, and that's where it ends. But after spending a nice hot sunny day at the beach who would want to come back to a dingy motel room, which has not been cleaned. Read on ,, This is not a 3 star or even 2 star B and B. It is just a group of shack's ( yes shacks) with pieces of furniture , that are old and have seen there time. There is no air conditioning in addition the fan they have in their shacks are disgusting and dirty and need a good clean. The beds ( where do i start) are plank boards, with flimsy foam used as a mattress The bed sheets this so called B n B provides are ridiculous they are worn out and have holes in them and for the pillows you really are best putting a towel over them. This is no exaggeration. The bathroom which is a wet room is the worst of them all , riddled with mosquitoes the drain facility is always blocked. This means when you go the loo, expect there to always be a puddle off water. Don't make the mistake I did, check out other places and if they are fully booked, walk further down, you more like to find decent accommodation on the opposite side of the road. And another thing which I believe is equally important, atmosphere . This place is full of Russians, most of them are loud brass and drunk, you may want to consider the final point for yet another reason NOT to stay here.

Great value
We paid $10 for a room with a double and single bed - out of season I guess. Comfortable, spacious and clean room in a convenient location. They have a few hammocks on their section of beach, but if you don't get one of them you'll need a towel, as there are no loungers. Agree with the unusual humour comment - difficult to tell if she was serious or not about cooking my boyfriend on the BBQ - but overall friendly enough staff if not always easy to find.

Decent
First off the rooms are $25 a night with ac You might be able to get $22 if you push it. The staff has a really strange sense of humour but friendly overall. The beach is dominated by Russian kitesurfers. Sand Dunes are a must. Overall, decent retreat. REALLY cheap good food at the bungalows

Quiet, good value
We took a bungalow with 3 beds and paid $8 for each. To the beach it's only 20 metres. It was very quiet except for the noise of the waves of the sea. Staff is friendly. There is a small restaurant in the resort where you can eat breakfast. They rent bicycles and motorbikes, you can buy bus tickets. There are also laundry facilities. We would stay there again.

More interested in their dog
Stayed here for $9, been travelling China and Vietnam for 8 weeks now and this place is a shambles. Rooms are horrid! They don't clean them, and smell sooo bad. My girlfriend got ill from their food and we tried to call a doctor and the staff speak poor English and were more interested in feeding their dog! The staff do nothing all day and don't clean the beach -- I almost stepped on glass. Do yourselves a favour and pay $12 to stay at Sand Dune, lovely, lovely rooms, plus HBO!

10/10 for location and friendliness
The location is superb. It's right on the beach and only a few steps from your bungalow room to the cool water. The staff are extremely friendly and the rooms are spotless. The food here is really good and great value too. The only thing I missed in the room was a fridge.

Disappointed
The bungalows here were nice and rather clean and the beach was beautiful. The staff although friendly were not the best. I had to search past the front desk into the kitchen to find them in order to check in and they tried to overcharge me when we left. We were told the A/C room by the beach was $15 and the fan room $12. We took the fan room and they tried to charge us $32 for 2 nights.

Great place, great beach
I loved the quiet beach here, the great bungalows and the friendly staff. Only drawback was some construction to expand the north half of their property, but even then, they were quiet and it was cool to watch them build stuff while lounging. Beach had no one trying to sell you stuff. A+, but don't expect any nightlife.
