Description
This resort is set on the grounds of a very trippy, ultra-kitschy, second-rate water park. The villas are circular, in the shape of huge tree trunks, made from cement. It's only really busy July through August, and on major Vietnamese holidays. The rooms here aren't all that spectacular -- not as clean and as well-kept-up as we would have liked, and a bit spare, but acceptable. They are right across the boardwalk from the water, and there's a good stretch of beach here. Summer days can be scorching hot, so things only really get going in the evenings. If nothing else, it looks like an amusing place to stay -- you'll definitely be e-mailing pictures of the cement flamingos outside your villa back home to your loved ones. If you choose to bring the kids, be sure to lower their expectations after they hear it is an amusement park. Disneyland this ain't, but it might be fun, especially if you catch it when it's full of people. Admission to the amusement park only costs 20,000 VND!

Tim Paradise Hotel

The Tim Paradise is truly an undiscovered gem. The building is colourfully designed and well maintained, with clean lines throughout, and a three-story atrium at the centre. The pastel purple rooms here were huge for what you pay -- they aren't the 4-star rooms you'll get at the Saigon-Ninh Chu... more
Phong Lan Hotel
74 Yen Ninh St, Ninh Chu
We found some pretty odd and surprising places on our visit to Ninh Chu beach, and this is one of the oddest. It's set well-off the beach, which seems a bit silly, and the grounds are designed like some kind of Italian palazzo, with foot-bridges crossing a lily-covered pond, converging on a gazebo... more
