Wow. Thank you for this. I climbed Mount Batur fuss-free last year and thought I could do the same for Agung. Seeing how steep it actually is from your photos, I’d probably have a panic attack on the spot. Congrats though for making it through!

Hi katyb,

We booked it through the bungalows on Kanawa Island (which was where we were staying) and it was just a daytrip (though we stayed on Kanawa around 5 days from memory). Yes, I’d recommend them. You may well need to book to get into Kanawa though. We compare it with Seraya Island on the following entry:

could you tell me what company you went with and whether you’d recommend them? Did you book in advance? and how long did you go for?

Am thinking of doing a side trip on a 2 week holiday to Bali… desperate to see Manta Rays and dragons

Hi! We are going in Bali in a week or so and we’re planning to go to Komodo. I read at one place that 3 years old can’t visit the park… Did you see anything about that? I found nothing mentioning it elsewhere than on a particular website, but it would be sad to get there just to see that one of our 2 kids, that is 3 and a half could not go in the park…
