The next month is set to be a big one for music fans in Singapore with concerts by pop starlets through to rock legends. Check out the list below and see if anything tickles your fancy! (Unless otherwise specified, ticket sales are through SISTIC.)
January 29: Laneway Festival – Australia’s St Jerome’s Laneway Festival is coming to Asia for the first time and bringing 7 international indie rock acts with them. Get ready for a full day of fresh music at Fort Canning Park with the likes of The Temper Trap, Yeasayer and Deerhunter. Tickets are S$109.50 through SISTIC or at the door on festival day.
February 7: Janet Jackson – Apparently there’s no hard feelings after Singapore banned two of her albums, because Ms Jackson is playing the Singapore Indoor Stadium as part of her ‘Number Ones’ world tour. The show starts at 20:00 with tickets from S$88 to 248.
February 9: Taylor Swift – Singapore is the first stop on American pop-country sweetheart Taylor Swift’s 2011 Asian tour. She’ll be playing hits from her latest album ‘Speak Now’ at the Indoor Stadium. The show starts at 19:30 with tickets from S$90 to 175.
February 14: Eric Clapton – Make it a Valentine’s Day to remember with a show from one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Eric Clapton will be playing at the Indoor Stadium to support his new album ‘Clapton’, but expect to hear some favourites from his legendary career as well. Ticket prices are S$99 to 399.
February 15: Iron Maiden – Heavy metal icons Iron Maiden are coming to Singapore with their Final Frontier World Tour. Fellow hard rockers Rise to Remain start the show at 20:00 with three hours of head-banging and monster guitar licks to follow. At the Indoor Stadium, with tickets S$98–178.
February 16: The Deftones – American quintet the Deftones will be blasting Fort Canning Park with songs from ‘Diamond Eyes’, their 6th studio album. The gates open at 18:00 and there is no assigned seating. Tickets cost S$98 in advance through SISTIC or S$110 at the door.
February 22: Faithless and Friendly Fires – British collective Faithless and special guests the Friendly Fires will work the crowd at Fort Canning Park into an outdoor dance frenzy with their catchy electronic beats. Ticket prices are S$115 in advance or S$135 on concert day.
February 23: The Eagles – Hear ‘Hotel California’ sung by the real deal when the Eagles play the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The band will play of mix of old favourites and new from their latest album ‘Long Road out of Eden’. Tickets are S$98 to 499 through SISTIC and are selling out fast.
February 28: Don McLean – If you’re willing to risk getting “American Pie” stuck in your head, you can catch singer-songwriter Don McLean at the Esplanade Theatre. Tickets prices are a wallet-friendly S$48–108.
