With its ultra-efficient MRT system and frequent buses, getting around Singapore is a breeze during the day. But the very last subway train leaves City Hall station at 00:10 and most bus services have wrapped up by then, too. Taxis of course operate through the night and are a snap to find at late-night hotspots like Clarke Quay, but there’s a 50% surcharge added to the metered fare after midnight.
If you’re out late on the weekend there is an alternative to taxis: the SMRT NightRider or SBS NiteOwl buses. NightRider buses operate Friday, Saturday, and the eve of public holidays from 23:30–04:30 while NiteOwl operates the same days from 00:00 – 02:00. Though the bus routes goes to the outlying residential areas of Singapore, they also hit all the major attractions in the city centre. You can view the full route maps online for SMRT or SBS, but the most useful stops for each service are listed below:
NR1: Sentosa, VivoCity Mall, Marina Bay Sands, Esplanade, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, North Singapore
NR2: Marina Square, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, North Singapore
NR3: Orchard Road, Clarke Quay, Northwest Singapore
NR5: Marina Square, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, West Singapore
NR6: Sentosa, VivoCity Mall, Marina Bay Sands, Esplanade, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, Little India
NR7: Marina Square, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, Bugis, East Singapore
NR8: Marina Square, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, Holland Village, West Singapore
1N: Marina Square, Esplanade, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, Little India MRT, North Singapore
2N: Marina Square, Esplanade, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, East Singapore
3N: Marina Square, Esplanade, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, Little India MRT, Northwest Singapore
4N: Marina Square, Esplanade, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, East Singapore
5N: Marina Square, Esplanade, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, Little India MRT, Holland Village, West Singapore
6N: Marina Square, Esplanade, City Hall, Clarke Quay, Orchard Road, Little India MRT, Northeast Singapore
The night buses aren’t as frequent as daytime service – expect to wait 20-25 minutes between buses – and they’re also more expensive. No matter how far you go, the fare is S$4 and payable by cash or EZlink card. To check if a bus stop has late night service, simply look for the “NR” or “N” route number on the information sign.

Hello. Are there any buses or night transport during week days? I mean something cheaper then to take taxi each day I wanna go out. ..Thank you.
No – unfortunately there isn’t! I’d suggest you party within walking distance of your accommodations to avoid hefty taxi fares after midnight!
