Drop-in yoga classes in Singapore

Published by at 2:47 pm under Sightseeing & activities

Perhaps due to its overworked population, Singapore is bursting at the seams with yoga studios. Most cater to residents with monthly membership packages, but some offer drop-in rates for travellers and other infrequent yogis. Here’s a round-up.

For the greatest variety of classes in one place –  including hot yoga, hatha yoga, vinyasa yoga, pilates-yoga and even baby and mummy yoga – head to Absolute Yoga. A single class costs S$40.66 including taxes, or you can get 10 classes for S$310. True Yoga has two locations: one in the ritzy River Valley Road area and one on Telok Ayer Street near Chinatown.

Fans of sweaty bikram yoga can get their fill at the Bikram Yoga Studio above City Hall MRT station. Location-wise it doesn’t get more convenient than this, and drop-in rates are S$45 for a single class or S$100 for a one-week pass.

For a more personalised yoga experience, try boutique Updog Studio which offers hot yoga, hatha yoga, flow yoga, and pre- and post-natal classes. The studio is located away from downtown near East Coast Park, but there’s also an on-site playground and mini-golf course to keep the little ones busy while you unwind. The first class is free — yes, free — and subsequent ones are S$37.45 each.

In a hip loft studio near Clarke Quay, Hom Yoga specialises in hot yoga but also offers mellower vinyasa and yin yoga classes. The drop-in rate is S$39 for one class with discounts for 10 classes or more. Hom will also be opening a second studio in one of the malls on Orchard Road later this year.

If you’re looking for inner peace and good value, Yoga Movement offers the lowest drop-in rate at just S$20 per class. The studio is conveniently located across from Clarke Quay MRT station and offers a full range of classes from “Zen” to “Monster Hot”.
