Review: Breeze Spa, Chaweng, Ko Samui

Published by at 1:01 am under Ko Samui

If you’re spending the day on Chaweng beach and fancy a little pampering beyond a beach massage, Breeze Spa at the Amari Palm Reef Resort is a good option.

Bright and breezy.

Breezy, like it says on the can.

Rather than having one signature treatment, Breeze Spa offers five massages, which you choose by answering the questions, “How do you feel at this moment?” — tired, stressed, relaxed, refreshed or tense — and , “How would you like to feel after the treatment?” — ready to sleep, peaceful and serene, blissful and rejuvenated, refreshed and invigorated or unwound and energised.

All are priced at 1,400 to 1,800 baht for 60 minutes and 2,000 to 2,600 baht for 90 minutes. Each of the signature mood massages is followed by a cup of warm tea, brewed to match the mood.

Just what the doctor ordered.

Should these massages be a little pricey, or you don’t have the time to spare, a treatment from their ‘pick-me-ups’ range might be the better option. These 30- to 45-minute treatments are priced from 600 to 800 baht and include massages and steam or spa baths.

We found the staff to be professional during our ‘back to basics’ back, neck and shoulder massage, and the pressure we asked for on our questionnaire was exactly what we got.

A spa package will get you the most value for your baht, though you need more time and you’ll spend more overall as well. The packages see various treatments combined in two-, three or four- four sessions, customised with a choice of mood massages, mood scrubs and facials, as well as extras and add-ons according to taste. There’s a choice of facials too using the Thai Panpuri range, as well as body scrubs and wraps. Manis and pedis  come in quick and more indulgent versions.

Yes, thanks, I'll take a pair.

Yes, thanks, I’ll take a pair. Now I just need a pedicure.

Breeze is bright, cheerful and, well, breezy, from the reception area to the treatment rooms, as well as the spa staff themselves. Even the quirky slippers given to guests  are a bright turquoise, with soles that massage the feet as you walk to your treatment room – it’s like a few extra minutes of treatment.

Should Breeze be out of your price range, of course you’ll find salas along the beach, where an hour-long massage will cost around 300 baht. It may not be as fancy, but it’s well worth it considering the price.
