The event covered in this post has now happened, and wow, what a night! It went fantastically well: nearly 500 people attended and we raised over $4,600. A big big thanks to all involved. If you’d like to find out more, learn about upcoming events and activities in Hanoi and the UK, or make a donation please visit the Support Carl Bart website.
You may have seen the “Help someone in need” post about Support Carl Bart. Carl suffered a head injury in a motorbike accident on Koh Samui on August 9 and remains in a coma. He’s now back in the UK but his family is now in debt to the tune of nearly £100,000, having had to pay for his medical bills and transport home. Fundraising events are happening on an almost weekly basis in the UK and an event in Singapore raised nearly £3,000 last week (thank you Singapore!). So we’re now organising a night in Hanoi.
The “Big Benefit Concert” will be held on September 24 at Hanoi Rock City. The event kicks off at 19:00 with a barbecue, which will last until the food runs out, and throughout the course of the evening there will be live bands and DJs performing both in the courtyard downstairs and the upstairs room.
At time of writing the complete line up is yet to be confirmed, but the energetic Good Mouth Feel have kindly offered to come on over after their gig at The Factory, DJ Slo Lo will be doing a late set, Phuong will be bringing her incredible vocals, Zippy will be entertaining people with her ukulele and “London noise merchant” Mouth of the Wolf will be, well, making some noise. On top of that expect a good mix of other music and a lively crowd – aided by a well-stocked bar and our very own Support Carl Bart shooter girls.
There will also be a raffle running on the night with the star prize of a luxury Halong Bay cruise, as well as a weekend in Phong Nha Farmstay, a photography session, restaurant and bar vouchers (including Puku, Foodshop 45, Namaste, Provecho, Southgate, AZenh, Joma, Le Pub, Pickles), a month’s travel insurance and more. Tickets can be purchased in advance at selected outlets or by contacting email@example.com or on the night.
If any aspiring musicians, magicians or other artists would like to be involved in the event please get in touch as soon as possible but by September 16 at the latest: firstname.lastname@example.org
Look out for updates here and at at http://www.supportcarlbart.com/hanoi.php
UPDATE: DJ Vaughan, Dirty Fingrz, Always and Nu Voltage have now confirmed! Waiting to hear from Freebirds, Recycle and Twilight but still looking like a great line-up!
