Just to let you know Travelfish will be offline for a chunk of time this coming Saturday June 15 as we move the site to a new server to try and address the performance problems we've had in the last week or so. I can't supply exact times at this stage sorry, as we're waiting for the new server to be provisioned, but once that is done I should be able to supply a time block -- ideally it will be a 6-8 hour block in the middle of Satuday GMT +8.
Apologies for any inconvenience, but we think moving to a new server should sort out the problems.
Not yet - we're still waiting for the new server to be provisioned -- so maybe not down till tonight or tomorrow. Will update this post when I have more.
We'll do our best to delay your chores as long as possible!
Ok, we missed last week's window and the server shift will (should) be happening tonight. Travelfish will be offline today (Saturday) from around 20:00 GMT+8 -- for around 5-6 hours. So in about 3 hours.
Apologies for the inconvenience.
Things are taking longer than planned so have temporarily re-opened the site -- apols for the confusion. Will post again when I have more info.
Take your time! Better not to push the red button until you're absolutely sure it won't blow anything up.
I don't know why it is, but I've noticed that when forum sites move to new servers to improve things what they actually tend to get is loads of new bugs that take ages to fix.
One forum I used to be on somehow lost every single post and ended up with a totally content free forum. I think the owner did it to try and stop spam but in the end spammers were practically the only posters using it and it's now dead and expired and no more like the parrot in Monty Python. And that was a bog standard generic PhPbb forum BTW, not a uniquely crafted site like TF with lots of little quirks that only you understand.
Ha ha SBE thanks
Pushing the red button in 15 minutes, so the site will be again offline from 17:15 GMT+8 hopefully this time for just an hour or so.
Fingers and toes crossed, we do appear to be back in business.
Will take a little time for the new IP address to bounce around the world, but the migration is finished.
Taps everything wooden within reach.
Thanks all again for your patience!
