Hey everyone!!
Is it quite easy to get a job in Thailand? - bar work, waitressing, nightclubs, that kind of thing?
I know it's not really legal without a proper work visa, but still - does anyone know if it's possible, and what are the best areas to work in?
Also, my boyfriend wants to do a dive course (the 6-month instructor one!!) so that's why i want to go and work.
The course he's looking at is in Pattaya, but i really don't want to go there!! Can anyone suggest a good dive school in a nicer area?
Your comments would be greatly appreciated!!
Cheers,
Travelcat

a much nicer place than patthya is koh mak, an isle off trat-not too far from uggly patthya. a german called lutz is an experienced instructor, he runs a dive school as well. and for you cat: no, itīs definetly not easy to get a job in thailand. your boyfriend will have far better chances as a dive-instructor.

Hi travelcat,
Welcome to Travelfish!
While you can pick up the occasional "casual" job, you can expect the pay to be nominal (if that) -- there's no shartage of English-speaking Thais who are happy to wait tables, serve drinks etc -- for far less than you'll do it! With diving, some do the course all the way through and then get a job at the diveshop as an instructor -- Ko Tao is the most popular destination for that kind of thing -- I'd never suggest Pattaya to anyone!
Hope that helps

Sorry, meant to also say, English teaching is a good one - lots of work in that area, but pay is low.
