We want to recommend our wonderful trekking guides since they don't yet have a website. They were recommended by our friend who was in Kalaw a few months ago, and I'm so glad that we followed our friend's advice.
This is a family operation, with all of the adult children and cousins serving as guides. Spencer, the youngest son, coordinates the trips. His contact info is below. From the moment we talked to Spencer, we were part of his family. He gave us a tour of Kalaw (without charge), invited us to his family restaurant for lunch, insisted we have dinner with his mom, etc. Spencer's older brother Ko Htay, is a wonderful chef and prepared one of our favorite meals (even if you don't trek with them, go to their restaurant Home Again, which is just up the hill from the main part of Kalaw).
We were charged about $25/day oer person. So for two of us for a two day trek, it was about $100 plus a bit more for the baggage transfer. This is more than lonely Planet estimates, but not too expensive, considering how wonderful it was--amazing food, great company, and a personalized plan. Soencer's info is below. Please tell him that you found him via an online review posted by Kyla and Val (American with curly hair like Ko Htay's). The whole family is wonderful--we had the Ko Htay/Bo Bo team which had the added bonus of gourmet meals.

Please reply back on this forum if you meet up with Soencer! I'd love to know how it was.
