Van/minibus rental Yangon to Bagan January
27th September, 2009
6 of us are travelling from Yangon to Bagan to experience the festival and I thought it might be easier to hire a van and driver to get us there rather than a bus or train. We're a tall family!
We'd like to go by day. Is this possible to organise and if so, about how much and how long should it take to get there?

Well when we got there we couldn't find anyone to take us or organise a van for us. We decided it was too long a journey for a day and our time was best spent in a plane getting to Bagan.
After asking around on a Sunday, we were quoted about $125US per seat at a couple of stalls that sold bus and air tickets. I wasn't comfortable with buying form someone in a booth on a Sunday, particulary as there was no computing system and it was all done by phone and written on tickets. We found a proper Air KBZ agency that sold domestic tickets and ended up flying for (from memory) $90US per person. Printed ticket. A much more secure feeling.
We still had to ring and confirm that day that the flight was going.
A 2 hour flight was the best thing. More time to relax and sort out our time in Bagan.
