Hi All,
Does anybody have recent information regarding flights in and out from Mandalay. We're planning on leaving Myanmar via Mandalay somehow, preferably to Chiang Mai or China. Any suggestions appreciated.

When? It says there are flights from to Bangkok too on that site but I tried several dates and non of them work for either Mandalay or Bangkok.

airmandalay.com says the flight has been "temporary suspended".
Looks like the only international flight out of Mandalay at the moment is to Kunming with China Eastern . http://www.flychinaeastern.com/
Not cheap though, looks like it's over 2,000 RMB.

The Air Mandalay flights have been temporarily suspended now for a couple of years. As #4, your only direct flight option is to Kunming.
An alternative option is to fly to Kengtung (lovely town and good day trekking), and then continue to Tachileik on the Thai border. Mae Sai, across the border, is about 5 hours by bus from Chiang Mai. You'll need a Yangon travel agent to sort this out for you as you need a border permit for this route.

anotherlostsoul - may I ask some questions please. can you fly to Kengtung from outside Burma, or are you referring to domestic flights only? Is it possible to go to Kengtung from Chiang Mai via Mae Sai? Do you happen to know much - approximately - is the border permit and the guide? THANKS
