Is it possible to travel overland from Bangkok airport to Siem Reap, without passing through central Bangkok? We are going in early July, and are trying to have back-up plans in case the conflict gets violent again.
And, has there been any serious incidents in the regions on the Bangkok - Aranyapathet route?

The Northern Bus terminal is no where near the previous conflict area. It is in Mo Chit, in the North part of the city. You can easily get a taxi directly there from the airport without going through the city center.
And no serious incidents occured anywhere but it BKK. So you do not have to worry.

Thanks for the advice! I see that older posts mention a direct bus from the airport to Aranyapathet - the Bus Number 390 - Suvarnabhumi Airport - Talad Rong Kluea. Checked the airport website but I couldn't find timetables for that bus. Anybody knows how often it leaves and how long it takes to get to Aran? Do you think the direct bus would be quicker than taxi to Northern Terminal and bus from there? What about the quality of the buses? Aircon?
