What are the best ways to get from Phnom to Siem Reap. I understand there is a bus and a boat. Which is the preferable way to travel,

boat is more scenic and quite comfy-even on the roof. bus is abit dull-but cheaper. it´s all up to you.

I found the bus to be a better option. We went by "luxury bus" on the Mekong Express — snacks and drink and toilet and steward on board — took 5 hours, cost only US$5.
My friends went by boat and looks like it's a hit or miss. If the river is too dry, the boat is too packed, etc, you're plain out of luck. It also costs something like US$25. I know someone whose boat was stuck in the riverbed on a dry day and the trip ended up taking more than 10 hours.

hey!
we came yesterday by boat from Siem Reap. the water is high so there are no problems travelling. is cost $25 incl. pick up. it took about 5 hours and the scenery we saw from the roof was beautiful.
good luck and enjoy your time.
