Hi, first time visitors to Cambodia this coming Dec/Jan. We'll be in Cambodia for New Years Eve and looking for any suggestions of where to be. We'd really like to be on a beach with a good party atmosphere.

do a search for "Sihanoukville new years" sounds like what your after. we were there for 08/09 new years and loved it. behind Berlin NYE the best civilian fireworks show i have ever witnessed. plus cheap bungalows and moto rentals.

we stayed at a few actually- it really depends on what you want and how much cash you have. if you want to be near the party, don't mind backpackers and touts- stay at Ochheuteal or Serendipity( we did for new years and when we arrived only ). if you have cash to burn or folks coming to visit, Sokha and Independence would be the choice. if Otres still exists- its laid back and great for swimming and sunsets, though we did have a couple of near misses there with theft as it more isolated. in the end we found ourselves a cheap bungalow off victory beach: about half way up the hill. stayed there for 2 weeks spending the money we saved on a room to hire a moto and explore for the week .the beach itself isn't the nicest and the area is full of bar girls and old dudes but we only slept there.it was quiet and the sex tourists weren't in our face in any way. Ill be back this year and might be there for new years. my plan would be stay at victory for any time leading up to new years then over to the party, with a night booked at serendipity for new years. hope that helps. peace

Thanks kiaraangus. Sounds like this could be our place. Which of the beaches were you on?
