Does anyone have an idea how to hook up with others in SR who might also want to make this trip (early in the day)?
I most certainly will not do the bus thing, getting picked up at 7 and then driven around SR for an hour while people are having breakfast at their GH and then more time wasted on some rest stop along the way.
If anyone needs to make this trip as well, please get in touch.

Just to follow up on this. Boy, did the bus situation improve in Siem Reap. I was in positive shock when the Capitol bus dropped us right downtown close to the market.The old bus station outside of town is a big construction site right now.
On March 4th, I bought the cheapest ticket to Poipet, again from Capitol ($3.75, I think) and you are now responsible for getting to their departure place downtown on time - so much better than before. I chose the 8 am departure and we arrived in Poipet just after 11 am. Even though I took my time getting a free meal at one of the casinos and the border processing took a long time, I still made the 13:55 train to BKK.
