I don't know if it is closed but I would recommend you pick somewhere else to stay. I stayed there in Dec 2010 and thought it wasn't good value for your money. There are much cheaper options in town.

I can only imagine 'Fox' has packed up and returned to Australia as he now has parental responsibilities.Just next door is the 'White Rose' a well known eatery in BB; carry on down to the river and there is a hotel on the right with great rooms overlooking the river but I can't remember the name. BTW Rates are negotiable.
I stayed at the Seng Hout last January, and was planning to go there again in a few days. Around USD 16 for a very nice room, air con, clean, the lot. Breakfast not included.

$16 seems a lot for a room in Cambodia.I left Phnom Penh last Monday and it's actually pretty cool for the time of year so I doubt you'd need a/c.We stopped in BB and it didn't seem any warmer there.

Can anyone advise if the Bus Stop Guesthouse is closed in end Oct/early Nov?
I visited their webstie (busstopcambodia.com) and it indicated "closed". I am visiting Battambang in end Oct/early Nov 11.

Thanks jonenlyd. Did you happen to check out any others? Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks Archmichael for the recommendation. Was hoping to find something for below $10.
Sayadian. Thanks for the tip on bargaining. Is below $10 for a clean single realistic? Would the place down by the river be within the price range?

I would think $10 would get you a clean room but with fan not a/c.
