Hello everyone,
Just a question. How easy is it to get a visa if you are travelling overland from southern Laos into northeastern Cambodia?
As it is not an official border crossing, I hear that you cannot get one on arrival.
Are there places near the 4000 Islands that can issue one? I am looking at spending 30 days in Cambodia by the end of this month and I am not looking to eat into a visa that I may have to get in Vientiane (then have to extend it).
I appreciate any answers you can give me!
All the best
Paul

Hi Paul,
Yes you can get a visa at the land crossing -- see the visa FAQ thread for more information.

Hi Paul
I am doing the trip to Cambodia from Southern Laos. To get your Cambodian visa from the Cambodian Embassy in Vientiene is very easy.
You just go to the Cambodian embassy, about 2 Km from the centre, you can go by tuk tuk(try and negotiate a price I paid 50,000 kip return but am sure you can get much cheaper!). The embassy is open at 7.30. You have to get there in the morning. Fill in the form and get back in the afternoon to collect your visa. You have 3 months to travel on the visa and once in the country its valid for 1 month. It costs 20 USdollars and you can come back at 4pm same day to get it.
Apparently i heard its ok to cross the border but it costs 2 dollars to stamp your passport!!!!
Hope this is of help. Enjoy your trip.
