My husband and I want to travel from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City by bus. We've been traveling on mostly one way tickets and have experienced some issues when not having an onward ticket. Does anyone know if it's mandatory to show proof that your going to leave within your allowed visa time when entering a country by land??

Onward tickets are rarely an issue if you have proof of funds, but that being said you do need to apply for your vietnam visa in advance, you can't get it on arrival by land - so I suggest you get it in Phnom Penh before leaving if you can...
