I headed up Bokor Hill a few years ago on a trailbike and am thinking of heading back this year, does anyone know if the road was repaired since 2007 or is it still a back breaking trek up??

I tried it in 2006 (I think it was then, they were building the new road extension to the main Sihanoukville highway) and I remember having to turn back as some of the pot holes would have swallowed an elephant. What have they built the road for? You don't build a road up a mountain without some plans for it. I hope its not a casino!
For scenery I would reccommend Kirirom- a more varied and spectacular landscape. It's got pine forests and a lake.

Well,Abigail that clinches it for me. Definitely go to Kirirom all you people who want a mountain. No casinos just pine forests and lakes. Miles of trails to trek too
BTW Didn't Bokor have a casino pre KR days or is that me mixing Hollywood with reality. Matt Dillon and 'City of Ghosts'

I went to Bokor Hill in Feb this year and we drove all the way to the top (it was a first class road) and we weren't allowed in the actual station because they were renovating it to make it apart of the casino complex. We could only get perhaps 100metres closest to the building because it was all fenced off. Not to mention we could hardly see it and the stench from the workers... business... pretty much made it a waste of time and money.
*Tear.
