Just wanted to warn travelers to be extra vigilant on the Siem Riep -Bangkok transit. Seems most companies are corrupt and ripping travellers off. We waited for 5hrs at the Thai border (3rd Jan so busy) and then got harassed on the other side for mini bus transit. Stand yr ground and insist on paying only when you get in the minicab as they like to take you to their family restaurant to "wait" before leaving. It's a scam.

I will be doing this border crossing in july 2013, How does one safely get from siem reap to bkk? Ive looked into it and have had many difficulties with this crossing in finding a solid company. It almost seems as if there arent any. I know the highway was paved and finished so at least one form of transportation here has to be . ... maybe not. Sounds like thats not the case. Im a single girl coming here so Im trying to be optimistic about this crossing.

Thanks Diobree for the report.
Anewromantic, I just posted these two links on the other thread you asked, but will do here as well in case people find this instead.
Comparing the Thai/Cambodia corssing at Poipet in 2005 and 2012
Doing the same trip independently.
Cheers

I do this crossing often and will do it again in a couple weeks. Take a bus from Siem Reap to Poi Pet at the border. Sorya works. Cross the border. There are delays sometimes. Happens. Tuk Tuk to bus station. Take bus to Bangkok. Details here if you so desire. It isn't too hard if you know what to expect. And if you're reading here you are already on your way...

ps Somtam, your links are BKK->SR. Many of the same ideas apply, but different execution. If you have SR->BKK written up toss those links up here...

Actually, when I do the crossing, I've usually had a couple bottles of Cambodian booze, so I'm walking backwards at least...
