GiantIbis bus. Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville
15th January, 2008
I thought I'd try this relatively new service and give it a quick review.
Tickets are $10 which is around 30% more than other companies charge so I was expecting something better.
You can wait for your bus in a small seating area inside the companies office which are at the end of street 106 next to the site of the night market and Riverside.
The waiting area is clean and air-conditioned.
Transport was a large mini-bus with masses of leg room making it easy to stretch out and relax or sleep. No dirt and trash in the aisles and particularly welcome, no karaoke. Just a supply of fairly recent movies on a sound system that isn't set to maximum.
The bus takes the direct road out of Phnom Penh passed the airport. Why do the other companies add an hour to the journey by navigating a route through the slums of the city rather than use a good road? It's been baffling me.
We left 10 minutes late and with a twenty minute break for food got to Sihanoukville in just over 4 hours.
They don't seem to use the bus terminal at Sihanoukville. I was dropped on Ekareach Stret but was informed they disembark at Golden Lions Roundabout.
