Mekong Discovery Trail

Posted by stevie123 on 30/1/2014 at 07:50

Hi does anybody have any news on doing the Mekong Discovery Trail?

I am planning on doing the stretch down from Stung Treng and Kratie.

How long do I need to complete it in:

1. By bicyicle
2. By moped

I plan to hire the above transport in Stung Treng and do homestays on the way down on the islands or riverbank villages.

Any feedback folks??

Stevie

Hey

My husband and I rode the route in two nights and 3 days from Stung Treng to Kratie by bicycle. It would probably take the same by motorbike as the first day was about 80km to Koh Khener and then 40km through a difficult trail to Koh Phadao. I guess you could skip the homestay in Ko Phadao and take a ferry right to Sambor and 30km to Kratie, but the homestay in Koh Phadao is really worth it and gives a really good opportunity to see Dolphins.

All the maps and links you need are here:
