    Hi

Im trying to figure out the best way to get from Phnom Penh to Bangkok apart from flying.

Ive read that Capital open tours runs a bus leaving at 6.30am, taking 12hrs and costing $15.

Has anyone tried this or does anyone have a better ideas on how to do the journey.

I haven't heard of a direct bus, most likely you'll need to change buses at the border anyway. But in any case, take a bus to Poipet, cross the border and then take a bus or the train from Aranyprathet to Bangkok. It's easy.

I'd say 12 hours by bus from PP to Bangkok to be pretty ambitious. I use to do it overland via share taxi regularly (via Battambang) and the trip would take around 18 hours.

Lother's reads good - that's what I'd recommend, though think it would take closer to 18 hours rather than 12.

By the way, any guesthouse will book you the ticket to Poipet and the bus company pick you up.Avoid the PP-BKK deals as they end up cramming you in a minibus for the Thai section, although they do take you to KhaoSan Rd as opposed to Morchit
