Aug 2008

It's a good location and the room itself was modern, comfortable, with large windows and spacious, the cost and level of service of this FCC was thoroughly disappointing.

For $50 a night in Phnom Penh, the staff accidentally sent luggage to Sihanoukville, didn't spray down the rooms or put up bed nets, didn't change burnt out light bulbs or deliver breakfast as requested. The dinner at the FCC was also less than impressive for the prices paid.

I wouldn't stay here again.

Local word on the street is that the FCC group has taken its eye off the ball and is too focussed on its new projects (Pacharan, The Quay, new colonial building purchase) and is neglecting its more established projects i.e. the FCC, instead relying more on its reputation and inclusion in all the guides to attract customers, rather than its service being the thing that attracts customers...

Lovely building but food way overpriced and service sometimes mediocre.
Much better dining experience at Metro further up the quay on the corner of 148.

Can't beat happy hour at sunset watching the world below. Didn't stay there, didn't eat there but started most nights there.

husko you have the right idea. we were just there & the fcc botched our room reservation, they said, due to a problem with piping in one of the rooms. i think they overbooked as they said they tried repeatedly to get in touch with us although we received no emails or cell phone messages. they did give us a room at the quay although we had to fight for the same rate. the food is really overrated (tried a few different things & wouldn't recommend any of them); don't let the guidebooks sell you on the pizza. not worth it!

The FCC is well ahead of itself, and its new place The Quay is an eyesore of large proportions.

Around the corner, to the left, down next to the U-Care pharmacy is a terriface Vietnam Pho' shop. And off to the right of the FCC is a new Lebaneese eatery (also good).

yes, try the lebanese, Le Cedre, it is quite good... great addition to the restaurant scene in phnom penh. the location on sisowath quay is the owner's second branch in the city, the only lebanese cuisine in phnom penh.
by the way we enjoyed our stay at the quay although it wasn't our original intention. the staff are doing a good job and the setting is pleasant, modern yet casual. depends on what you are after....
