How long does this trip take? I am assuming this is best done by bus. Any specific recommendations?

Does anyone have specific recommendations for mid range ($20-50) hotels in Hanoi , Hoi An and Da Nang?
Also, thoughts on the over night train from Hanoi to Hoi An ? How long, how much, what class?

How long does it take to travel from the beaches in Sihanoukville to Ho Chi Minh City? Or is there another way?
Recommendations for a hotel in Phom Penh in the mid range?

1) HCMC to Siem Reap : here's the answer from an earlier thread -- it's in the reverse direction, but trip time and cost should be about the same.:
"The Mekong Express Limousine Bus travels direct from Siem Reap to HCMC. The bus departs SR at 7:00 and arrives in HMC at 19:00. It makes a 30 minute stop in Phom Penh. The bus ticket costs $22 US."
2) For accommodation rec's you're best off starting at our listing pages for those specific destinations. We're rolling new Da Nang coverage onto the site today.
3) From Sihanoukville to Ho Chi Minh City you can go either via Phnom Penh or via the coastal crossing. Either way you'll need to overnight along the way. See this story for information on Sanookyville to Rach Gia and this story has some recommendations for particularly special hotels in Cambodia.
