Hi there,
I intend to go to Cambodia from 24 Jan to 6 Feb 2009. I plan to head to Battambang but was told that it is not safe for a female traveller?
Any advice?
Thanks in advance!

Where did you hear this? I'd say Battambang is a very safe place in general. I don't think there is anything to worry about.

I'd agree with Lother on that.

i agree too.
if you like join a cooking class in the smokin pot. A lot of fun, good food and you can ask the boss of the cooking class everything whats in your mind.
I felt very save there but if you wanna be on the safest way take a moto at night to your guesthouse...

cambodia in general in safe. Battambang does however in my observances (of news articles and other forums) have a higher crime rate than the country at large. this is not, from what i personally witnessed, directed at tourists. The town felt as safe as siem reap and far safer than PP. be careful but don't worry.
