had great new years time trip with young family of six (kids ages 8-13) to Angkor Wat ruins and Siam Reap from Thailand. We're americans currently living in thai. - We had 3 hr drive to border (but we used our driver, not set up in bkk), than crossed over - ignore all the touts - paid 100 bht bribe (to expedite we were told) for visa $20.00 at cambodia border.and than cambodia govt taxi service $50.00 - nother 2.5 hr ride over adventuresome bumpy road and great cambodia country side sites. The ruins and siam reap were great. we were happy w. our hotel as well. angkorland hotel $90 nite. 3 nites/days was just rite. guide & driver were $50 day, prbly can do w.out if backpackin it, but the guide was good at explaining history, bringing us to good photo locations that wouldnt of found, etc. and we needed van since big family. great pics and fun. food was great value, and tasty at most of the pub street places we ate - red piano, irish place, mexican place (not real mexican though, but still ok), etc.
