I am considering backpacking around Cambodia and maybe into Thailand from mid April to mid June. I know that the wet season starts up around this time. I was wondering if anyone knows just how bad the rain gets around these months. I may push my trip forward to January. Would this be a better time to travel Cambodia/Thailand?

It will get wet, but April will be sooo hot that the rains will be a welcome relief.
Unless you're planning significant beachtime I wouldn't postpone the trip. See the Cambodia weather page for more info.
