hey folks,
i left my passport at the okay guesthouse to get my vietnam visa made. it will only be ready in a couple of days but i don't want to stay in phnom penh too long so i'm leaving tomorrow for kampot. is it safe to travel roads of cambodia without my passport on me (just my receipt for the visa)? will i run into any trouble? also, do you think it's safe to have my passport left somewhere for like a week.
thanks so much!

If you are being a happy little traveller, I can't think of a reason why the authorities would want to talk to you. If a GH want's some ID of who you are, do you think a receipt will suffice?
Cheers

Best practice is to keep a photocopy of your passport with you at all times. This should satisfy Cambodia's finest in the unlikely scenario of you being stopped.

Agree with sayadian...just carry a photocopy of your passport and Cambodian Visa with you. When you back in Okay guesthouse?

I should have thought of that... I feel stupid now. Thanks for the idea... will take one next time.
For now I'm in Kampot and have had no troubles. Back at Okay GH tomorrow *sarcastic cheer*. PP is far from being my fave city...
Thanks for the feedback folks!
