Hi,
I'm planning to travel from Siem Reap to Ko Chang mid-October, and would like to cross the border near Pailin as this seems the most direct route. Any update on the road between Battambang and Pailin- will it be passable in October?
Also, any recommendations where to make an overnight stop on this journey?
Cheers!

As far as I know the road is still unsealed and the trip takes 3-4 hours -- in October I'd expect it to be closer to four hours. Once you've crossed the border, ask around for the casino minibus (carpark is a little down the road, on the left after walking over the border) that goes direct to Chanthaburi -- it is the quickest route.
If you wanted to overnight, both Chanthaburi and Trat are good for a night - I wouldn't bother with Pailin personally.
