    Hello all,

My partner and I were hoping to rent bikes when in Siem Reap to bike around and explore on our own. Apparently there are lots of other wats and historical sites to happen upon, and we've heard that biking is a great way to do it. My concern is whether this is safe to do, mostly with respect to landmines. Any thoughts?

Safe as houses if you stick to the roads and marked paths.

Many places around Old Market and Wat Bo areas rent bikes, from $1/day for basic city bikes to $3 or $4/day for more rugged mountain bikes with suspension etc.

Spend the 3-4$ - better bike. Worth it.
The 1$ bikes are just that...
    And don't worry about mines.

We spent 4 days biking around the temples and we loved it. You can rent a bike anywhere in siem reap, our guesthouse in the old market rent them for 1.5$.
If you want to see the sunset around the temples, the way back can be a bit mad because of the traffic - everybody , car, bus, tuk tuk and motos are watching the sunset in Angkor wat too. But from Angkor wat to the old market its only 20-25 min bike ride ! we found it fun in the end :-)
    Enjoy!
