Hi there!
Me and my girlfriend are leaving for a two week trip to Vietnam and Cambodia in a couple of days, and we have made all the arrangements up fornt. Well, almost. After a week up in Cambodia visiting Angkor and Phnom Penh we want to go down to Phu Quoc for a couple of days of relaxing on the beach before going to Ho Chi minh and then home.
I havee searched the forum but is yet to find a good answer to my questions. We want to take the fast boat from PP to Chau Doc. When can we expect to be in Chau Doc? Is it necessary to stay there overnight or is it possible to get to i.e. Rach Gia the same day, and then take the boat to Phu Quoc? Is there any possibility to get to a boat to Phu Quoc in time if we stay over at Chau Doc? Or would it be better to just take a plane from Rach Gia?
Any input would be much appreciated.

to come Phu Quoc by express boat, you must present at Rach Gia or Ha Tien daylight before 13. quite possible to stay at Chau Doc . But if you have much time, could direct to Phu Quoc. there are alot of bus from Chau Doc to Ha Tien or Rach Gia. But you could choose Mai Linh bus to travel from Chau Doc to Can Tho, then catch the Mai Linh bus to Rach Gia since Mai Linh is safe. Credited bus in Vietnam

Thanks for the advice.We ended up taking a car from Pnomh Penh to Kep. From there we took a tuk-tuk halfway to the border where two motodups waited for us and took us over. The tuk/tuk guy was the one who organized this. The border crossing was a walk in the park compared to Moc Bai/Bavet. We are now in Ha Tien with tickets to a fast boat wich (hopefully) leaves tomorrow morning at 08:00.Will report back wether or not it does.
