Hello,
were planning to backpack in South-East Asia, but we will be there for just three months. Is the combination of visiting Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodja and Laos a good idea? Or is three months too short?

Hi Pimvanhees,
In 3 months you should be able to see a fair bit and this will depend on what you like doing. My wife and I spent around 20 days in Vietnam earlier this year and we found that was more than enough time. We started in Saigon then caught a plane to Nha Trang and did a 5 day motorbike trip to Hoi An through the central highlands. Travelling by motorbike was a fantastic way to see the country and would highly recommend it. Then we headed up to Hanoi and went to Halong Bay and Sapa.
My advice would be to avoid backtracking between countires - find a good starting point such as Hanoi and then make you way down through Vietnam into Cambodia and then up to Laos. After Laos you could head to Chiang Mai (in northern Thailand) and then make travel down south and relax on one of many beaches in southern Thailand before going home.
At least with 3 montths you can be very flexible with your plans and check this website for the climate as it varies between countries. I wouldn't worry about booking any internal flights/bus trips etc until you arrive there.
Wishing I had 3 months to get away on a trip back to Asia!
Enjoy your trip!
Jarrod
