KNGO is a young project tryig to offer free education to village children. You can get involved from spending as little a one hour assisting in a class and giving children important contact with English speakers or take a long term teaching assignment and develop your own class. You can also do a homestay at a modern house in the village looked after by the NGO, eat with the Director's family, visit the market and learn some Khmer. See www.kngo-home.org for contact details.

My girlfriend and I have experience working with Saveth and KNGO. It is an extremely worthwhile cause and the level of enthusiasm and interest from the 150 students is incredible. When you stay with Saveth and his family, you are very well looked after - the food is all local Khmer and freshly cooked by Saveth's wife, and the homestay accommodation is immaculate. I would encourage anyone interested in a genuine volunteering position in Cambodia (with the added bonus of a true experience of Cambodian rural life) to contact Saveth and give what time you can to the organisation.

After reading about this school in another thread on this site I checked out their website, seems like a great place. I was thinking of spending some time there next time I'm in SE Asia - later this year I hope :)

Hi,
I think the other thread you read was mine, and I was remiss in not updating this thread as well. I hadn't had a reply to this post before I left but took a punt anyway.
FANTASTIC experience and the highlight of my trip. I am hoping to go back for some more time later this year. Just a small point, although Saveth is keen for whatever time you are able to give, I really wished we had of been there for at least a week (rather than the three days we did there), just to get a bit of continuity for the students.
If anyone wants any more information about kngo, I am happy to answer any questions.
