Photo competition: places I'd go back to

Hi all

Something new and something fun -- we're going to run a monthly photo competition -- starting today! Each month will have a new theme, and you're all welcome to enter.

Our first theme is "Places I'd go back to" and the deadline is October 25, 2006.

The winner gets two free Travelfish T-shirts of their choice from the Travelfish propaganda department.

Here's the FAQ:

1) How do I enter?
Write a brief about your your photo (don't forget to say where it is) and add a link (just the URL) to the photo. We'll make the link live so your photo shows up in this thread.

2) But I don't have a website to upload the photo to -- what should I do?
Well you can either start an account at a site like pbase.com or flickr.com. The basic accounts on both are free. If you'd rather not do that, add your photo description to this thread and then just email the pic to us at mailbag@travelfish.org -- don't forget to tell us who you are! Add your message to this thread BEFORE emailing us the pic! and please please please RESIZE the image down to a smallish size -- we'll be displaying the pics at no more than 500 pixels wide...

3) How many times can I enter?
Just the once!

4) Does the photo have to be of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand or Vietnam?
No -- it can be from anywhere!

Here's an example to get things rolling:

Phu Lang Ka in Phayao province, Northern Thailand -- somewhere I'd absolutely go back to!

The picture was taken in Machapuchare Base Camp 3700 M, otw to Annapurna Base Camp
I took the picture from just right outside the lodge we're staying that day.
I've seen this kind of picture on the internet. But I can't really describe the feeling I experienced when I see the mountain roaring right in front of me.
Nepal is a magic place that I'm sure I'm not the only one who's craving to go back there again every single day.

This is from a hike inside the Grand Canyon in the USA. I'd never seen sky so blue before. I'd go back here again!

This shot was taken this summer at Ao Hin Khok, Samet Island, Thailand. To me it's one of those picture perfect places that looks too good to be true even when you are standing right there. I'd definitely go back there to relax for a day... week... month.

With so few entries we've really got no excuse for being late on this -- sorry!

Hey there.. just want to let you know I've been back to Nepal since there every single year and next week I'm going to do the same trek I did in 2006 and I can get to see that mountain again for one more time :-)
